Pearl Harbor

A second conspiracy theory around World War Two is that Roosevelt knew that pearl harbor was going to happen in advance and let it happen in order to have an excuse for the United States to enter the war.  Now I am going to try something different for this post and base it entirely off of the last post I made so read that one first.  This is purely my speculation and my opinion, any facts about Coventry can be seen in my last post.

Now Pearl Harbor was the event that drew the United States of America into World War Two, and I think that it is possible that the United States let the bombing happen in order to get an excuse to enter the war.  If the British let Coventry be bombed then it is possible that Pearl Harbor happened in the same way.

The Coventry Blitz Conspiracy

One of, if not the most famous conspiracies surrounding the Second World War was the Coventry Blitz conspiracy. This conspiracy lays the basis for another conspiracy surrounding World War two which I will cover later this week. The bombing of Coventry was one of the most devastating bomb raids carried out  during World War Two.  With this event two schools of thought arise.  The people that believe that something could have been done to warn the citizens that it was coming, and those who think the British knew nothing of the attack.

Now I am one from the first school of thought.  I believe that the British government knew that Coventry would be bombed and did not disclose this information in order to save more lives.  I must also say that since this has neither been confirmed nor denied this is my opinion and my claims are based in truth. Any fact I give is always in a given source at the bottom.

Those who believe this theory, much like myself, think that during World War Two The British were able to decode the German Enigma machine and that they knew the bombing of Coventry would happen or at least they knew that a bombing would occur.  They think that this was the case think that Churchill let the bombing of Coventry happen in order to not let the Germans know that the British decoded the Enigma machine,  According to one RAF officer, he sent in an intelligence report a few hours before the the blitzing that a bombing on Coventry was likely.  He also said that even the non Enigma sources of intelligence pointed to the general area of Coventry.  If his account is true then that would be proof that Churchill knew.  It is said that Churchill's private secretary noted that he received a red box a few hours before the raid and that Churchill told him that there was a heavy raid on London.

A man named Terry Charman, the senior historian at the Imperial War Museum thinks that Churchill really and truly thought that the bombing would take place in London and not Coventry.  He also adds that even warning the people that the attack was coming would not have done much to help them and the attacks still would have been devastating.  The people were given 3 minutes warning before the bombing and it ended up being very devastating.  I will cede that protecting them would have been hard, but the Enigma part is still intact.

The part of this conspiracy that still gets has me believe it is that the British knew how to decode the Enigma machine and did not warn the citizens because that would give it away to the Germans.  They did not warn the citizens because it was no use, I think that this still holds up because of that.

AIDS was created in a lab

There is a lot involved in this conspiracy and different theories so this post will more be my thoughts on this conspiracy.  I plan on keeping it on the shorter side.

Like most conspiracy theories this one comes from an event that actually happened.  The Tuskegee experiment was an experiment on Black men to test the effects of Syphilis.  600 men were enrolled in the program which began in 1932.  They were infected with Syphilis and given poor compensation and little to no medical treatment for it.  Because of horrible experiments like this one happened I believe this is why so many people think AIDS was created in a lab.

This conspiracy basically says that Robert Gallo the man who discovered AIDS actually created the virus that caused it.  It is said that the USA was looking for a virus to seriously weaken the immune system, and if AIDS was their result then they succeeded.   Conspiracy theorists say this virus was designed to wipe out some of the population.  This could potentially point toward that The USA was behind the creation of the HIV but it is unlikely.

I have barely scratched the surface of this conspiracy.  Plenty of additional information is available in these sources. I'm instead going to go down a more crazy route that could point to this conspiracy.
According to some sources Robert Gallo the discoverer of the HIV virus was working for the institute of human virology, or IHV.   The virus that causes AIDS is HIV.  This could point to USA being behind the creation of AIDS being similar lettering.

Project Rainbow

Now this is a very fun conspiracy theory.  Project rainbow, also called the Philadelphia experiment was a speculated experiment aboard the USS Eldridge is mid to late 1943.  Now that by itself is not too interesting.  What makes it interesting is the experiment that was conducted.  It is said that the tests conducted involve something like experimenting in magnetic invisibility, optical invisibility, or radar invisibility.  The United States Navy denies that any such experiment every occurred or took place.

What is known for certain is that there were programs to make United States ships be invisible to magnetic torpedoes.  Experiments were conducted by wrapping ships in big cables and sending high voltages through in hopes to scramble the magnetic structure.  What makes this experiment significant though is the results of this experiment.  What conspiracy theorists believe is that with the Philadelphia experiment a green fog seemed to cover the ship.  It is said that the ship was out of sync or not phased in reality properly.  Crew members were able to walk through walls during this and when it re-phased some people were stuck in walls and some were missing entirely.

Is it a hoax?

The ship logs of the USS Eldridge show that it was never even near Philadelphia at the time of the experiment and the United States Navy denies that an experiment like this ever was even conducted, so at the surface it would be easy to call it a hoax.  If this experiment actually did happen like people say it did then the Navy would do everything in their power to keep it a secret and faking ship logs would have been an easy thing to do to cover it up. Yes, evidence points to it being a hoax, but if I were to dismiss any conspiracy where the powers at be denied it then there would be no point to this blog. I think this conspiracy has a nice plausibility to it.  I think that invisibility experiments were likely conducted and they did not go as planned.  Whether or not people could walk through walls during this experiment is not known for sure and I do not think the Navy would ever admit to it if it were true.  With that I call this conspiracy plausible.

Was the Moon Landing Fake?

One of the more famous conspiracy theories is that the moon landing was fake.  The moon landing in 1969 was at the height of the space race and The Cold War, which lead some to believe that the moon landing was faked to gain an advantage over the Soviet Union who had beat the United States to space.  As a whole this conspiracy is widely debated and has inspired even a MythBusters episode where they test some conspiracies regarding the landing.  Many points have been discussed as to why the moon landing could or could not have happened.

Key Points of the moon landing being fake

1. Astronauts could not have survived due to cosmic radiation among other things
2. The flag planted on the moon seemed to flutter as if there was wind blowing on it
3. NASA faked the landing to gain an advantage over the Soviet Union
4. The landing used a sound stage and was easier than actually going to the moon

As it turns out mythbusters did an episode where they discussed different moon landing conspiracies and actually debunked many of these points to the moon landing conspiracy.

Do these points hold up?

1. The aluminum hull of the Apollo spacecraft actually protected the astronauts from ionizing radiation as it turns out.
2. If you take the photos of Neil Armstrong mid salute of the flag and after, the flag stays stationary.  While this myth had plausibility it is seen that the flag does not move in between pictures.  Myth Busters also tested this in a vacuum chamber and found in normal pressures the flag fell while in the vacuum it continued to flutter due to the momentum of the planting and later stayed in position due to a lack of gravity.

3. If NASA had faked the moon landing then this would have been a solid motive to do so.  As already stated earlier the space race was at the height of the Cold War with the Soviet Union.  Winning the space race would have been huge for America for they would be able to “beat” communism.  This motive holds.
4. As a first thought this makes sense.  America could have just used a soundstage as to not risk the lives of the astronauts and they could save money in the process.  The fact though is the technology to fake the landing did not exist at the time this took place.  The technology needed to make a fake stage, and have good enough cameras to fake simply did not exist

The moon landing was a huge part of American history.  Points to this conspiracy are well thought out and do make sense with a first thought but the truth is that upon analysis this conspiracy theory does not hold up.  With this evidence it is safe to say that the moon landing could not have been faked.

Let's get this started!

Hey my name is Dwight Stevens.  I am a 25 year old living in New York close to ground zero.  Ever since I can remember I have been crazy into conspiracy theories.  This blog is going to cover famous conspiracy theories and not so famous ones.  I will discuss their plausibility and provide evidence for my claims.  This is not meant to debunk theories.
